What customers say?

“ After the disappointing lunch, it was time to redeem the disappointment by going for a good coffee. I drove further inside Taman Taynton View to reach Ah Gong House, a cafe operated from a residential house turned into a space to enjoy coffee. Initially wanted to have coffee outside the house under the zinc roofing whike being surrounded by green grass and trees, I quickly abandoned the idea when my ketial started to sweat. The counter is in the living room area with few tables available, plus another room converted to accommodate more tables. ◾Passion fruit cheesecake was made by themselves and my mood quickly turned for the better. ◾Handbrew Coffee paired well with the cake I was eating. ◾Flat White served on a wooden coaster impressed the picky minister who loved her coffee being strong. ◾Tea The overall ambience was calm and soothing and I particularly like the art which they drew themselves hanging around. ”

“ It's literally a house, with the entrance via a back alley. It's not quite clear whether the place is open or not (last time we came we thought it was closed), but the many pairs of shoes outside the house gave it away. Not quite sure if it is the same people running YiLuDou next door (directly behind), but the beans are all from there. They quadruple checked with us what our order was but still slightly messed up our order (cold instead of hot) Coffee was okay, but our picks didn't quite hit the spot for me (perhaps a matter of preference) ”

“ Coffee is amazing. There are many blends/beans to choose from that range from floral, fruity and nutty. The barista will properly explain the different blends before you order so there wont be anything to worry about. They mostly serve hand poured coffee but they just recently had hand-pressed espresso which I have not tried The food selection rotates around (previously they had noodles, now they had bagels) but they are always good. The taste of the ingredients strawberry cream cheese bagel is perfectly balanced. Also, the atmosphere is amazing. The inside is relaxing and makes you feel at home (literally lol). The outside/backyard of the home looks good for taking photos too. *Note: the enterance is a metal gate with many tin can wind chimes. You can push the bar that keeps the gate closed yourself to get in. I was kind of lost the first time looking for the entrance ”

“ Located in the back alley from YiDulou, the place is easy to miss at first. Look for the telltale sign of the cans dangling from the gate. Had their ice chocolate, was good. Feels like a homey place to chill, with little rooms and nooks and crannies. They also sell lotsa coffee making paraphernalia ”

“ Decided on a coffee date with my mum and stumbled across this weekend cafe. We found out that they roasted their own coffee beans, and the staff were really friendly, explaining to us about their coffee. Coffee was fragrant and delicious. It's one of the best ice latte I have tasted!! They even make their own scallion oil rice for their special weekend menu. As we were full from breakfast, we didn't try it but will definitely try it another time. ”

“ Reminds me of my teenage years studying overseas, where houses had built-in carparks. You’d drive into the garage, close the roller shutters (or not), and there’d be a door leading straight into the kitchen, then the rest of the house. Ah Gong’s house is similar but like most M’sian houses, it leads to the main entrance — they’ve cordoned off the staircase. Interestingly, they run two concepts under one roof: Ah Gong House and Yilidou. What’s the difference? Ah Gong House is a no-frills dine-in spot with a weekly pop-up menu — dishes that have been tried and tested by the proprietor. Opens only on Saturday & Sunday. You never know what you’re getting until that week, which adds to the charm. Yilidou, on the other hand, is all about filtered coffee. It gave me major purist vibes — no food, no desserts, no milk. Just 100% coffee, roasted on-site. Pure, unadulterated kopi. Your senses aren’t distracted by anything else — just coffee, and only coffee. I tried today’s pop-up: Hakka Yellow Wine Chicken. My portion arrived without soy sauce or chili. I was tempted to ask why, but decided to go with how they intended me to experience it — and I’m glad I did. The flavors stood strong on their own, and I finished every bite. My only feedback? The fungus could’ve been a tad softer — just a personal preference. Next week’s pop-up? Nasi Kerabu. Yay ”

“ As the name implies, it's really a house, and could very well remind you of your grandfather's house. The entrance is at the back lane of the shop lots. Just look out for the painted cans hanging on a gate. Reservations are required, but you can try your luck. The barista patiently helped me choose a single origin coffee that fit my palate, and I was happy with the brew (they roast their own coffee). The lemon cheesecake was also good. Food choices are very simple, check out the refrigerator which doubles as a menu. The interior is tastefully decorated, especially the coffee bar area. ”

“ Private, cosy ambience, kind of Taiwanese culture shop. Food wise is very home cook taste. The bagel is well bake with a crunchy bite. Fresh cheese cake to go with a very aromatic "Ah Gong" coffee. Just the portion is rather small with the price range. For those 1st time visiting and using gmap, the entrance is actually at the back lane. ”
